Milk Poetry

I founded Milk Poetry in 2015 with my friend and fellow poet Graham Chilcott. We wanted to create a space that felt generous, nurturing and genuinely inclusive, where spoken word artists could grow their skills and find community, where emerging and established performers could share the stage as equals, and where audiences would feel essential to the creation of the art.

What started as a monthly slam in the back room of a pub has grown into an organisation that produces live events, festival stages and workshops. Named one of the UK’s top spoken word nights by Picador Books, it has been a launchpad for some of the finest spoken word artists in the country and is one of Bristol’s longest-running poetry organisations.

I’m very proud of Milk Poetry, all the things we’ve achieved and the ways we’ve supported poets over the years. We’re still running regular events at The Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol. Come and see us!
